Mission The Children's Relief Fund recognizes that every person, no matter what their disability, has a place in our society. Our goal is to provide the special needs children in our area with the appropriate tools to live productive lives in our community. These very special children, like all other children deserve their chance to shine.
Background The Children's Relief Fund is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 by Rose and Frank Fotia. Their son Gregory had multiple disabilities and was the inspiration behind The Children's Relief Fund. Our group consists of volunteers who raise money to help fund therapy, special equipment, summer programs and recreational activities for special needs children in the Hilton Head/ Bluffton area. For over 23 years, we have operated with an all volunteer fundraising committee and BOD. In 2006, the Children's Relief Fund was honored as Organization of the year by the Hilton Head/ Bluffton Chamber Of Commerce and has been on the angel list published by The Sec Of States Office. Every year our organization has devoted 98 percent or more to direct program services.
Impact Accomplishments:

We provided physical, occupational and speech therapy to children whose families could not afford these services due to lack of available funding.
We funded two summer camps so these special children would have a place to go and enjoy their summer vacation.
We provided many recreational activities including Special Olympics programs, therapeutic horseback riding, dance programs, fishing outings just to name a few.

CEO/Executive Director Statement I am so proud of our organization! For the past 23 years we have served our community by providing and helping develop programs for our local special needs children. We have been honored with multiple awards made possible by the amazing people who volunteer for our organization. The organization is run from my home residence so there is no overhead for rent and related expenses allowing us to use the monies raised to support our programs.
Board Chair Statement Many of our board members and volunteers have made it a life's passion to serve on The Children's Relief funds Board and committees. We have been able to remain an all volunteer group with our only administrative expenses being printing, postage and fundraising expenses. We do not use professional fundraising groups so we do it all on our own. This proposes a problem with burnout as many of our members have been performing the same duties for many years. We are addressing this issue by trying to recruit new volunteers that can step in and provide much needed assistance with tasks.
CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments We are proud of all the support we have given since our organization was established in the early 1990's. We have helped so many families with disabled children live productive lives in our community! Most importantly, we have given these families hope! When we started this organization there weren't any programs for children with disabilities. We now have summer camps, a handicapped accessible playground, assistance for various therapies, Special Olympics programs, dance programs and several recreational opportunities. All this is possible because of The Children's Relief Fund!
